finally! more about the Grampians

aaand a bit of chatting about the grampians. What a beautiful area! We drove up on saturday morning and spent the afternoon hiking Mount Hollow. a lot of the hike was actually rock climbing, and we climbed through a few caves which was awesome. The hike was tiring but so much fun! After the hike, we walked out to a cave which has Aboriginal paintings on it (there's a picture!) so that was cool. not many of those left any more because of weather and wear. We headed to our hostel after that and stayed in for the night. The next morning we all got up and we went to the visitors center at Halls Gap (which is the town we were staying in) and then we went and drove up and around the park to cool lookouts. Wildfires went through the whole park in January (they let them burn so that they stay low intensity and move quickly), so there was no canapy, and there was charcoal everywhere. the cool thing was, it was longe enough ago that everything has started to resprout, because few things actually die, they just get charred. anyway, super cool stage or regrowth, I took a ton of pictures, i'll put a few up! We also hiked down to the bottom of MacKenzie falls, which was counted was 260 steps plus lots of walkways. it was a LONG walk up but we made it. So all in all our trip to the Grampians was a lot of hiking around, tons of beautiful views, and a really fun time with all my girls:) This trip had a very 'road-trip' feeling about it, so that was fun! Good tunes on the bus, fabulous ladies in my company. Oh, and of course, my favorite road trip snack, i had lots of peanut butter, jelly and Nutella sandwiches! YUM!
