Docklands

Cow in a Tree...some cool sphere things that blow in the wind...good stuff!

lovely times

Lets try again, pictures!

I love it here too much! (i mean, not TOO much, just SO much!)

This weekend, Claire and I both had papers to work on, so, as predicted, they did not get written. Instead, we cleaned our apartment, cut my bangs, aaaand...we made papercup/twine telephones. So. A few pictures of us, being rediculously silly. Erin, Claire's best friend from college who is also here, came to visit, and got to chat on the phone out our window (which is over the entryway), so thats who's on the other side. Earlier in the day we had discovered that our 'great cell phone plan' that we had was actually the worst and most expensive ever, so we kept telling people 'great plan! free unlimited use.' Alas, we were bored, and procrastinating, but great proof that we are a perfect match for roommates, awesome friends, and that we might be a bit crazy. On another note, it was a BEAUTIFUL spring day today so Claire and I ventured outdoors to run (since we're getting sick of the wall at the end of the treadmills in our gym). There is a huge beautiful cemetary north of us, we can see it from our room, and past that a huge park, which is next to a HUGE park called the Royal Park. Anyway, we ran around the cemetary, to the park and then around the quaint little neighbourhoods around the park. We found this back alley (not a sketchy one) that we did sprints in and then we would run (normal run) a block and then speed walk a block. So, we got a ton of fresh air today, found my new favorite place (I think I might buy a home there when I return...don't worry Mom, i'll come home for a few years before I come back), and we got a lot of exercise in! Anyway, just a note about my life here and my fabulous roommate. Love you all! Send emails!
p.s. the photo thing won't work, so pictures soon! Also...I went down to the Docklands the other day after class, there is a ton of cool art stuff down there, and I'll put some pictures of that up too!

and now! the pictures:)

who doesn't love pictures?

finally! more about the Grampians

aaand a bit of chatting about the grampians. What a beautiful area! We drove up on saturday morning and spent the afternoon hiking Mount Hollow. a lot of the hike was actually rock climbing, and we climbed through a few caves which was awesome. The hike was tiring but so much fun! After the hike, we walked out to a cave which has Aboriginal paintings on it (there's a picture!) so that was cool. not many of those left any more because of weather and wear. We headed to our hostel after that and stayed in for the night. The next morning we all got up and we went to the visitors center at Halls Gap (which is the town we were staying in) and then we went and drove up and around the park to cool lookouts. Wildfires went through the whole park in January (they let them burn so that they stay low intensity and move quickly), so there was no canapy, and there was charcoal everywhere. the cool thing was, it was longe enough ago that everything has started to resprout, because few things actually die, they just get charred. anyway, super cool stage or regrowth, I took a ton of pictures, i'll put a few up! We also hiked down to the bottom of MacKenzie falls, which was counted was 260 steps plus lots of walkways. it was a LONG walk up but we made it. So all in all our trip to the Grampians was a lot of hiking around, tons of beautiful views, and a really fun time with all my girls:) This trip had a very 'road-trip' feeling about it, so that was fun! Good tunes on the bus, fabulous ladies in my company. Oh, and of course, my favorite road trip snack, i had lots of peanut butter, jelly and Nutella sandwiches! YUM!

AMAZING night!

Tonight, Sarah, Claire, Erin, Lea, Molly, Katie and I went to "The Boy From Oz", starring Hugh Jackman. Amazing. Absolutely amazing! The musical has been on Broadway in NYC for the last 6 years, and Hugh Jackman won a Tony for his performance. It's Australian written, about Peter Allan (who was a famous Australian music writer and performer), and is performed by mostly Australians. The performance was so impressive, and energetic and exciting. We got all dressed up and it was so fun to go into the city. The show was at the Rod Laver Arena, which is where the Australian Open is held. The musical was written for performance in an arena, so it was great.
Anyway, you should all check out the website (http://www.theboyfromoz.com/index.asp) and then I'll talk to you even more about the show!
